What Is Skin Rejuvenation?
Skin rejuvenation treatments are in-office procedures that improve facial contours, and firm and brighten skin. They typically involve either chemical or mechanical exfoliation, or some form of controlled injury that works to increase collagen production and cell turnover.
Skin rejuvenation procedures are most often used to treat the face; however, they can also be used on other parts of the body such as the hands, arms, legs and neck.
Although most skin rejuvenation treatments can target different types of skin concerns, each treatment has a specific purpose and will therefore be more appropriate for certain patients. During a consultation, our specialists will work with you to determine which treatment is best suited for your needs.
The following skin concerns can be greatly improved with skin rejuvenation treatments:
- Acne scars
- Age spots
- Dull complexion
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Hyperpigmentation
- Spider veins and broken capillaries
- Sun damage

Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are exfoliative, acid-based chemical solutions that remove the top layer of skin to reveal the smooth, healthy skin beneath.
A range of skin concerns can be effectively treated with chemical peels, including fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, minor scarring, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.
Chemical peel solutions are available in a variety of strengths. Light peels can effectively address most minor cosmetic concerns and have mild aftereffects that include redness, dryness and a slight stinging sensation.
Stronger peels provide more dramatic and long-lasting results; however they have significant side effects and may require up to 3 weeks of downtime.
Chemical peels are safe and effective for most patients; however, you should not undergo a chemical peel if you:
- Have used a prescription-strength topical acne medication in the past 6 months
- Have open sores, inflammation or sunburn
- Have recently undergone another in-office cosmetic treatment
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Are immunocompromised
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning involves exfoliating the skin and removing facial hair with a surgical steel scalpel. The ultra-sharp sterile blade sloughs away dirt, oil, dead skin cells and peach fuzz to reveal healthy, glowing skin beneath.
This noninvasive, zero-downtime procedure improves skin care product absorption and helps makeup go on more smoothly. It also reduces pore size, prevents future acne breakouts and addresses postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, fine lines and other blemishes.
Dermaplaning is safe for healthy people of all skin tones and types, including sensitive skin. Side effects are very mild and may include temporary slight redness. It’s not recommended for people with active acne breakouts, as the procedure can further irritate inflamed skin, or who have taken prescription acne medication in the past 6 months.
Fillers
Dermal fillers are injectable products that restore lost volume caused by loose, thin, aging skin. They reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, including static wrinkles and folds that remain visible when your face is relaxed.
The primary ingredient in most fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a molecule that occurs naturally in the skin to keep it hydrated and full-looking. Others contain poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which stimulates long-term collagen growth rather than providing instant volume.
Possible side effects from fillers include bleeding, bruising, itching, swelling and tenderness at the injection sites.
We carry products from four major filler brands:
- Juvederm: A family of HA fillers that target specific age-related concerns, including nasolabial folds, cheek volume loss and thinning lips
- Restylane: HA fillers that plump, contour, and smooth the face, upper neck and back of the hands
- Revance RHA: a next-generation line of HA fillers designed to mimic HA in your skin and improve dynamic facial wrinkles
- Sculptra: PLLA fillers that gradually smooth and plump the skin with subtle, long-lasting results
Laser Therapies
Laser skin resurfacing treatments rejuvenate the skin by removing dead or damaged skin cells and boosting collagen production. We offer high-intensity procedures that require significant patient preparation and downtime but yield transformative results, as well as gentle peels with little to no side effects and subtler revitalization.
Our clinic offers some of the most advanced laser treatments available, including the following:
- Clear + Brilliant reduces fine lines, large pores and hyperpigmentation while stimulating collagen production and preventing new signs of aging. Treatment can range from very gentle to more intense.
- Laser360 combines three proven technologies to combat wrinkles, discoloration, vascular lesions and other imperfections while tightening and firming the skin. The treatment takes place at 3 separate visits over a 60-day period.
- Lutronic Spectra Carbon Peel tightens skin, boosts collagen and reduces hyperpigmentation and pore size. Its short laser pulses allow fast healing and minimal side effects or downtime.
Microneedling
Microneedling uses tiny needles to apply controlled points of injury to the skin. These minute wounds stimulate a strong increase in collagen production, providing an anti-aging effect and leading to improved skin texture and firmness. Microneedling is an effective treatment for hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, sun damage, fine lines and minor scarring.
Side effects include minor discomfort, redness, peeling, bleeding and sometimes bruising. The skin heals fully 24 hours after a microneedling procedure.
The brief downtime and minor side effects make microneedling a suitable treatment for most people. For those with darker skin who are more prone to hyperpigmentation, microneedling may be preferable to laser treatments for certain skin concerns. As microneedling does not heat up the skin, it is less likely to trigger hyperpigmentation than laser procedures.
Radiofrequency microneedling
RF Microneedling combines all the benefits of microneedling with those of radiofrequency energy. This energy heats the deeper layers of skin to trigger more collagen production than microneedling alone, providing more dramatic results and a faster recovery.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a procedure which uses a handheld device to gently abrade and remove the surface layer of skin, stimulating the growth of firmer, healthier, more evenly toned skin in its place. Microdermabrasion can improve skin concerns such as sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, dull or uneven complexion, hyperpigmentation or minor acne scarring.
Microdermabrasion devices are either equipped with a sharp diamond tip or emit a stream of fine crystals to abrade the skin. Both methods provide essentially the same results, are minimally invasive and require little downtime.
Microdermabrasion is safe for anyone who is in good health and can effectively treat most minor skin concerns. Side effects generally fade after just a few hours; they include mild swelling, redness and tenderness.
Skin Health Consultation
In addition to in-office procedures, our practice offers skin health consultation services. One of our licensed estheticians will meet with you to assess your skin, discuss your concerns and formulate a personalized skin care regimen.
This regimen will consist of carefully selected top-of-the-line skin care products, all of which are available for purchase in our clinic.
Our treatment approach lets you customize your skin care plan according to your needs and support your skin’s health for the long term. It will also help prolong the results you obtain from in-office skin rejuvenation procedures.

How can I prepare for a skin rejuvenation treatment?
For a full 2 weeks prior to a skin rejuvenation treatment, you should not have any other in-office cosmetic procedures, waxing or at-home exfoliating peels.
Starting a week before your appointment, take special care to avoid unnecessary sun exposure. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher any time you go outside, as well as clothing that covers your treatment area. Also take care to avoid prescription acne medications and any products that exfoliate your skin. If you smoke regularly, stop.
Avoid topical retinoids and any drying skin care products for the last three days before your procedure. On the day of your appointment, do not apply makeup or any heavy creams.
How should I care for my skin after a rejuvenation treatment?
Until your skin has fully healed after a procedure, be sure to continue following stringent sun protection measures. Take care to avoid touching your skin while it is healing, as this can spread bacteria and lead to infection. Lastly, be sure to carefully follow any personalized aftercare instructions given to you by your specialist.
Is there any downtime associated with skin rejuvenation treatments?
Skin rejuvenation treatments typically require a period of downtime, but this time is usually brief. Medium-depth chemical peels may demand up to 1 week of recovery time, while deep peels typically require 2–3 weeks; most other treatments require less than 1 day.
