What to Expect at Your Spectra Treatment

Before your Spectra laser therapy, avoid using products containing retinol for at least 48 hours beforehand. Arrive at your appointment with skin that’s free of makeup, sunscreen or any other cosmetic products.

Your aesthetician will guide the laser handpiece over the treatment area, and you’ll experience a slight warming or prickling sensation. Typically, numbing cream is optional, as the procedure causes minimal discomfort–in fact, many patients report it as painless.

Aftercare

After your appointment, your skin may be slightly red for several hours. A cool compress can help alleviate any discomfort. Keep the treated area moisturized and avoid sun exposure for at least 24 hours to aid the healing process.

How long does the process take?

Hollywood laser peel appointments take approximately one hour; the laser portion of the treatment lasts 10–20 minutes.

Unwanted pigmentation removal appointments can be even shorter depending on the size and placement of the affected area. For small pigmented lesions, the lasering segment of your session can be shorter than 10 minutes.

Tattoo removal appointment length depends on the size of your tattoo and typically lasts between 15–45 minutes.

Can you see results after one treatment?

For most patients and conditions, results are noticeable after a single Spectra treatment. However, to maximize and maintain results, follow-up treatments are encouraged. Complete  tattoo removal may take up to eight sessions for complete removal. 

Are there any side effects?

Mild reddening, swelling and sensitivity can occur immediately following the procedure. These symptoms typically resolve within a few hours, but may last multiple days. In some cases, you may experience itchiness, scabbing, minor bruising or undesired pigmentation.
