Laser Hair Removal at Skin Therapeutics
Laser hair removal is an FDA-approved technology that has helped millions of people achieve smooth skin over the past three decades. It works by emitting a specific wavelength of light that targets melanin—the pigment that gives hair its color—in the hair shaft.
First, the area is shaved to prevent burning hair from damaging the skin. The laser then burns the hair at the root and damages the hair follicle, preventing or delaying future growth without affecting the surrounding skin. Over several days or weeks, the damaged hair falls out.
Why Choose Us for Laser Hair Removal?
Skin Therapeutics is staffed by a qualified team and expertly equipped to provide you with safe, effective laser hair removal.
All our laser procedures are administered by Certified Laser Technicians who are also registered nurses. We use the Lutronics Clarity II, a brand-new laser system that’s faster and more accurate than previous models, and can address even very fine hair. This leading-edge technology uses intelligent tracking to increase the thoroughness of coverage, monitor skin temperature and auto-calibrate in milliseconds.
Skin health is our number-one priority and the foundation of everything we do. We have the experience to tailor treatments precisely to your needs, with no risk of skin damage from a poorly calibrated laser. In fact, we’ve been providing this service to the Baltimore area for nearly two decades, so you’re in good hands!
Before and After Photos
Please note the patients featured in these images may have undergone other treatments in conjunction with laser hair removal. This photo gallery does not guarantee that everyone who undergoes laser hair removal will obtain these or similar results.
Results from your laser hair removal session take several days or weeks to appear. The damaged hair roots gradually fall out, leaving smooth, stubble-free skin. While you won’t be completely hair-free after a single session, you’ll see a noticeable difference in density that will continue with further treatment.
The rate at which hair grows back varies widely. For most people, it will last several months; for others, it may last years. Although hair removal isn’t necessarily permanent, the hair that grows back will very likely be finer, lighter and easy to remove with occasional maintenance treatments. Eventually, you may find that the hair stops growing back altogether.
Who Are the Best Candidates for Laser Hair Removal?
In the past, laser hair removal was only safe for dark hair and light skin. Now, advancements in laser technology means that almost anyone can benefit from this service. We can adjust the laser settings to accommodate skin of any color. Lighter hair may require more sessions than darker hair; however, very light or white hair may resist treatment as it doesn’t contain enough pigment for the laser to target.

What to Expect During Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
At your laser appointment, you will start by donning protective eye goggles and lying down on a comfortable treatment table. If necessary, your esthetician may shave the area to be treated. Then, she will methodically pass a handheld laser device over the entire area. Small areas, such as the upper lip, may take less than five minutes; a larger area could take 1 hour or longer.
Afterward, you may experience redness and minor swelling. These side effects resolve within a few hours on their own, but you can use an ice pack if you wish. You can also take ibuprofen or tylenol 1 hour before your treatment to reduce the risk of swelling or pain.
How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?
The cost of your laser hair removal will depend on many factors, including the size of the area to be treated and the number of sessions you need. At your consultation, we’ll develop a plan that meets your needs and fits your budget!
Other Skin Therapeutics Services to Try
Many of our clients choose to pair their laser hair removal session with one of our other services.
You might be interested in a medical facial, a corrective, results-oriented procedure that uses medical-grade products and technologies to improve skin health. We analyze and discuss your skin in detail, perform an exfoliation and then apply a mask targeted to your skin’s needs. Your esthetician also gives specific skin care and lifestyle recommendations to help your face look its best!
If you’re dealing with fine lines and wrinkles, Botox injections can smooth out your skin for a fuller, more youthful look. Botox temporarily freezes the muscles in the treated area, lessening the appearance of lines created by repeated facial expressions and preventing new wrinkles from forming.

Laser Hair Removal FAQ
How do I prepare for my LHR treatment?
In the 4 weeks leading up to your appointment, do not wax or pluck the area to be treated. (These depilatory methods remove hair from the root, leaving nothing for the laser to target.) You should also avoid excessive sun exposure.
One day before your appointment, you should shave the treatment area. Shaving removes the exposed hair so it’s not burned by the laser which could possibly damage your skin. However, you also need to give your skin enough time to recover before treatment, which is why shaving 1 day in advance is necessary; shaving immediately before a laser session will increase the risk of inflammation.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Some people describe the sensation as similar to being snapped with a rubber band. In any case, it’s less painful than waxing – and lasts longer too!
Is laser hair removal safe?
Yes, provided it’s administered by a qualified professional. In a safe, medical setting such as our office, you run minimal risk of skin damage.
Does laser hair removal get rid of hair permanently?
It depends. While some people find their hair never grows back after the initial course of treatment, others will require maintenance appointments after a few months or years. However, the hair that grows back is lighter and sparser.
